Camp Fimfo RV Park: A TX Hill Country Gem

Hello friends! If you follow me on Instagram, then some of you may know that we recently purchased a fifth wheel RV. It has been a dream of mine to explore the great state of TX with our kids. There is so much beauty right here in our own state, and some of my best childhood memories were spent on the road exploring the outdoors with my family. This weekend, we found ourselves with no plans. NO baseball, no parties to attend, no work commitments. So as we were sipping our morning coffee, we decided we were going to pack up the RV and hit the road to an rv spot that I had saved in my “list of must visits”. Continue reading for lotssss of pictures, and our review of the Camp Fimfo RV park!

location

Camp Fimfo RV Park is nestled in the TX hill country, in between New Braunfels and Canyon Lake, off Hwy 306. If you are familiar with that stretch of road, it is right behind Whitewater Amphitheater. The property has rolling hills, river access to the Guadalupe river, and gorgeous trees throughout. Everything is manicured, well kept, and so clean!

rv spot

If you are visiting and staying in the camp, you have an option to book an RV spot, or a variety of cabins. Having our RV, we booked a “preferred” RV spot, which was a section closest to the “main amenities”. The other RV spots looked really nice also, they are just a bit of a trek away from the main happenings. Each spot had a picnic table, fire ring, bbq pit, concrete pad, and full hook ups. The spaces were also long enough to stay hooked up to the truck, which was nice since we were only staying one night.

amenities

This paragraph could be a long one. 😅 I kid you not, I have never seen so many things to see and do, in one spot in my life! And the best part, it was all included with our stay. Upon arrival it was hot and sunny, so the kid’s were ready to head straight to the water slides. They had a huge area with slides, splash pad, pool, hot tubs, and cabanas to relax in. I loved the fact that I could watch Cheyenne in the area more suited for younger children, and the big kids could go ride the slides within sight also. (Such a great perk when you have an age gap with kiddos!) The pool has a swim up bar, and a little restaurant right outside the pool with ice cream, burgers, pizzas, and other snacks available.

After the water area, we decided to go explore the river. Near the river there are a couple playgrounds for the kids to play on, and wide open fields leading to the river bed. The water was crystal clear and gorgeous. Shallow areas to wade in, and deeper spots for swimming as well.

After the river excursion we headed back up to camp and did putt putt golf. It is an 18 hole course that was super fun for everyone! After golfing we played in the lawn area by the general store, and decided to do some gold mining. This was the only thing that we had to pay “extra” for. In the general store they have bags of pay dirt in various sizes for you to purchase, but the mining station is open for you to come and go whenever you would like. My two rock lovers had so much fun revealing their treasures.

On our walk back to the RV spot, we also stopped at the jumping pillow, and made a note to bring back a basketball and tennis rackets for the courts that they have available! Also, if you couldn’t tell by the excessive amount of photos I took, there are so many cute photo ops. 🙂

Last but certainly not least, is the coffee trailer. It is the cutest little spot serving coffees, teas, frozen lemonades, smoothies, and even pup cups. We stopped by the trailer the next morning, and really enjoyed our drinks. I am sure I may have missed some amenities, but these were our top favorites!

we can’t wait to go back

This spontaneous trip was absolutely so much fun, and we are already trying to figure out when we can go back. The fact that it’s 45 mins away from home is a huge plus, and the fact that there is SO much to do is amazing. They are adding some new things to the park (we saw construction for a zip line and cat walk bridge). And everyone we came in contact with on the grounds was very friendly and helpful. If you are visiting the area and looking for a place to stay, I highly recommend this location!

Are you an RV-er? I would love to connect with you! Leave a comment below if you’ve stayed here before. I would also love to hear your favorite spots to travel to! I have a running list of recommendations that I am keeping handy for the spur of the moment adventures.
