A Letter To My Girls

Taylor & Cheyenne,

As I sat and watch you chatter and play with my makeup today, a sense of love that I can’t explain welled up inside of me. There are so many things I want you to know, so many things I want you to remember as you get older and walk this crazy road called life.

I want you to know that first and foremost no one besides your Heavenly Father of course loves you more than I do. I will always be there for you no matter what.

I want you to know that you have the brains & talent to do ANYTHING you put your mind to.

I want you to know that if you fail, it doesn’t make you a failure. It means that you had the courage to take a risk. Pick yourself back up and try again.

I want you to know that what is on the {inside} is what makes you beautiful. But if you choose to have some fun with makeup, I am not going to stop you. :-*

I want you to know that standing up for what is right is not always going to be easy. But it is completely worth it.

I want you to know that some people will be ugly to you and say hateful things to you. I can’t tell you why people act the way they do, but don’t stoop to their level. No one gets ahead in life by tearing others down.

On that note, I want you to know, if I catch YOU being the mean girl? Better watch out.

I want you to know there is going to be no friend that is closer to you than your sister. Y’all may annoy each other to no end, reach a stage where you fight like cats and dogs, but at the end of the day, for the rest of your life, you share a bond like no other. (For example growing up with your crazy parents :-D)

I want you to know your brother will always have your back. He has a unique role in being the only boy in the house. Be kind to him, he is outnumbered.

I want you to know that whatever you choose to do “when you grow up” I will support. As long as you promise me one thing. Put God first in seeking what’s right for your life.

I want you to know there’s going to be some days that we don’t see eye to eye. I’m already praying in advance. Remember that I have your best interest and safety in mind. I will make mistakes, and so will you. But by God’s grace we get back up and try again. We are in this together.

I want you to know, it’s okay to not know how to perfectly fold a fitted sheet. No one judges life outcomes by the state of your linen closet…Okay, maybe that’s me just talking to me. 😀 Takeaway? Don’t sweat the small stuff.

Lastly, on a serious note, I want you to know that I ADORE you and thank God everyday for putting my two beautiful daughters in my life. You are a momma’s dream come true and I love you to the moon and back.
