That Old Frio River

If you are a George Strait fan you might know a line from the popular song “I remember that old Frio river… Where I learned to swim.”

The song is talking about ex girlfriends 😆 so not exactly about family memories, but my kids have definitely grown up swimming in that Frio River. It’s one of their favorite summer traditions. Every summer my mother in law {Oma} has a week long camping trip with the cousins. All of the kids stay, and us as adults usually try to make a day trip or two, enjoying the beautiful clear water. I looked through my phone earlier and took a walk down memory lane at some pictures from previous years trips. Thankful for the time we get here each year.

This spot always holds an {extra} special place in my heart as well. It’s the place John and I got engaged. 💍 We had gone camping with his family and went for a hike to the top of Old Baldy at Garner State Park. He proposed at the very top of the mountain. He told me he wanted to ask me at a place that would ALWAYS be there, and a place he could show our kids one day. Gosh, he did good didn’t he?!

So every trip that we make to this river reminds me of how special of a husband I have, and how grateful I am to build a life and a family with him.

Happy Saturday y’all. ❤️
