Collagen Peptides – My Personal Before & After
I love a good before & after. Whether it be a fitness transformation, a wake up to make up, or a day to night outfit look…I love to see transformation! I am a little bit obsessed with placing pictures side by side and comparing them. I would love to share my collagen peptides before and after with you!
Let me tell you the story about my visit to the hair salon the other day!
It has been about 12 weeks since my last hair appointment. I went into the same salon I have been going to for a couple of years now, and my wonderful stylist Payton made a comment about how much my hair had grown since the last time she saw me. ( I mean I had the roots to prove it too.) While she was highlighting my hair she kept saying, “Girl, I just can’t believe how thick your hair feels!” She also told me that she had to use more color than she usually does for my hair. She trimmed a good inch and a half off my hair and even with that trim, I put my hair pictures side by side and you can see the difference…
Picture on the left is after my hair cut in April. Picture on the right is after my hair cut in July (just a couple of days ago).
(Aside from clearly being blonder 🤣)… In my head I was trying to think what exactly I could be doing different that would make such a difference.
Then it hit me.
Have you heard the term before? In case you haven’t I will give you a quick {somewhat science-y & nerdy overview).
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and helps give structure to our hair, skin, nails, bones, ligaments and tendons in our body. Thanks to collagen, we’re better able to move, bend and stretch. Collagen is also behind helping hair shine, skin glow and nails stay strong.
As we age, and the more stress we put on our body, the greater the impact on collagen production. Getting collagen in a balanced diet can help our bodies regenerate what’s been lost or broken down. Collagen supplementation helps increase skin flexibility and hydration, which helps to smooth wrinkles and increase tone and firmness of the skin. Collagen has been studied to help reduce cellulite, too, by improving skin elasticity.
Collagen is a protein made up heavily of the amino-acids: glycine, proline, hydroxyproline, and lysine, all of which help our body’s connective tissue, skin, hair, and nails stay as healthy as possible. Collagen protein is different from whey and casein protein because of the different ratio of amino acids. Muscular growth, joint health and an overall glowing appearance can be partially attributed to the amino acid blend in collagen that can’t be found anywhere else.
Bottom line, here are some of the things you can expect to see while taking Collagen Peptides.
- Glowing skin & a more youthful appearance
- Strengthened joints, tendons, and bones
- Healthy hair & nails
- Increased lean muscle mass
- Improved gut health
Collagen Peptides come in different forms. I have tried MULTIPLE brands, and hands down the best brand I have come across and will continue using here on out is Vitauthority. I love the unflavored powder the most, because you can mix it in literally anything. I mix it in my coffee in the morning, and personally cannot tell it is in there. You can mix in your drinks, smoothies, and even bake with it.
I choose Vitauthority brand because they are very transparent about where their protein is sourced from, there are FIVE different types included in their product, and there are no fillers, binders, or artificial sweeteners.

I am excited to see these results, and will definitely continue with this supplement in my daily routine.
It’s sometimes hard to notice your OWN personal results, which is why I like pictures, plus it can be helpful for someone on the outside looking in to notice it for you.
I’d like to hear from my followers! Is Collagen a part of your daily routine? If so, what brand do you use? Y’all know I love to learn and hear from you! If you want to try the Vitauthority brand yourself, you can shop HERE.
