Our Home Gym Makeover

A little over a month ago, our family took a vote, and decided to makeover our family “bonus room” into a full fledged home gym. The bonus room was previously multi-purpose. I had some workout equipment in there, we had a couple big couches for the kids to lounge on, plus a TV for dance parties & movie nights. We decided we wanted room for some more workout equipment, so the home gym makeover started to take place. Continue reading to see how we put together our home gym!

the main equipment

So first things first, we had to decide what equipment we wanted in the space. We knew we wanted a squat rack with weights and bench, I had a Peloton bike on the way, and while not *completely* necessary, we wanted to update our free weights, so that they were all matching. (blame both me and my husband’s OCD 😅) I will link all of the items that I can below. Overall, we have been SO happy with the durability and function of our home gym. Our whole family has been able to utilize this space, and it makes for some great family time with the kids.

storage & accessories

Y’all know I am all about organizing! I knew I wanted a few key pieces to organize our weights, bars, and here and there accessories that would no doubt start collecting in the room. I also found a few motivational prints on Etsy & framed them in simple black frames. Linking what I can below!

sitting area

Last but not least, is the couch/sitting area in the front corner of the room. My daughter joked that “we shouldn’t need a couch in a gym, you go to the gym to workout, not sit down.” I knew our main goal was to have a space to workout, but I wanted a little spot to be able to sit, watch TV if you want, or bring a laptop to work. After a few weeks of searching I found the perfect size sofa to fit on the wall, added a rug and coffee table, and boom! Instant lounge area. Linking those things below!

All in all we are so happy with how this room turned out! I could not be more thankful that my kiddos are all active and healthy, and have a desire to work on their fitness.
