Goal Getter

I recently posted a picture on Instagram, and really struggled with how to caption it. What exactly was I trying to get across in posting this picture?

Two main reasons came to mind. First, I am celebrating a milestone in my fitness journey, and wanted to document it. And second, I wanted to share it with others in hopes to encourage you in your own journey, and to chase after YOUR own goals. But, as I was trying to put my words together I felt like it was way too much to type into a photo caption – so blog post it is. 🙂

A little bit about my journey to this point…
I started incorporating weights into my fitness routines when I joined Fit4Mom’s body back classes in September. I started the class with 5 pound weights, and stayed with those for 8 weeks. At the end of the 8 weeks, I decided that I had become strong enough to tackle the 8 pounders. I moved up to those and have stayed with them for the past couple of months. This past week I started to get the feeling that I am in a comfort zone with my 8 lb babies, and decided to text two of my instructors (and friends) to tell them “by the end of this week I am going to move up to 10 lb weights.” Both of them held me accountable on it, and even let me borrow their 10 lb weights in class. (How nice right?! 🤣) I went to Target this afternoon and bought the 10 pounders. Point. Of. No. Return.
So, here’s the conclusion to my story, and how I want to use it to encourage whoever is reading this. You could read this, and think only 10 pounds? Wow. What a lightweight. And to you I would say, that’s okay, we all have to start somewhere. Today I am going to choose to celebrate my own progress, and stay in my own lane. 👏🏻
Or, you could read this and think 10 pounds? I can barely lift 3s or 5s! And be tempted to think “I can’t ever do that.” THIS is why I share my own history with you. 5 months ago, I. Was. Right. There. With. You.
Everyone’s journey is going to look a little different. Everyone is going to be at a slightly different stage then you. You do you, girlfriend. Celebrate YOUR victories, great or small, because a win is a WIN, no matter what it looks like.
